Wolves of all shapes are revered in Spáfold.

Culture

The culture around Spáfold is a mixture but is primarily Norse. While there are many cultures within the world, who naturally have their own deities, for the most part, the Norse Gods and Goddesses are whats worshiped and even feared. Odin, considered by many, to be the Great Father, followed by his son Thor and his adoptive son, Loki, help maintain a certain semblance of power within the world itself. Loki however, remembers all to well, what happened when the mighty wolf, Fenrir was released from his prison and how this nearly destroyed both Earth and Asgard as a whole, resulting in the Great Dire Wars. However, only the Spirit of the Auroras tribe and the Great Gods themselves, remember these wars, for all written knowledge of them was lost many years afterwards.

Tribal Chiefs' Roles: This world has had a rough start and during it's early years, a massive super volcanic eruption is what eventually shaped the great land. Over time, humans came to the world and as with all things they choose to do, at least two known great wars erupted, until finally one group of people took control and it is through their tribal leaders of the SpiritOfTheAuroras Tribe, that all disputes, great or small, are settled.

Men's Roles: The man's role within Spáfold is to make certain his tribe, homestead, and his family are kept safe. He is charged with making certain his sons respect women, and that his daughters know how to become Shield Maidens. It's his role, as head of house, to make certain each chore, wither it's tending to the livestock, or making weapons, is shared equally among his children and with his wife.

Women's Roles: A woman's role is to make sure her children grow up to be sensible and to understand that Spáfold is a gift from the Gods and that at, any moment, it is a gift that can be taken away. She is charged with making certain her daughters' continue their Shield Maiden training and that her sons understand that to respect a woman, wither she is a captive of war, or his own daughter, is to earn her respect in return. Mistreat a woman, and said son knows, that many have been taught how to 'geld' a man and free him of his....manly duties.

Children's Roles: A child's role for the most part, is simply to enjoy life. He or she, is to share in the everyday chores found within his or her's own household and to make certain that once his or her's parents grow too old to do so, that the parents are card for until their death and subsequent departure to Valhalla. Even children from neighboring cultures, such as Asian, or Hindu, understand this is a role that i taken very seriously by the Gods themselves, and thus, each child takes it seriously. A daughter's role is to become as great a Shield Maiden as her mother was, or even greater and even during times of peace, she is to keep her wits sharp and her blades sharper. A son's role is to make certain his family is protected both during times of peace and during times of war. He is to respect the women folk and honor the Shield Maidens who fight alongside him, for it is through their battle cries, tat the cries of the great Goddesses can be heard.

Deities

MORANA; The Goddess of Winter.

Her main attribute is a sickle horn. For travelers who got lost in the forest, Morana pretends to be an ordinary gray horse (they don’t see her huge wings and frosty patterns on her body). Morana decides whether to help the travelers get out of the forest or leave them to freeze to death.

Morana is capable of causing terrible snowstorms and reaping the souls of objectionable creatures from them with her sickle horn. Defender of the forest - she is merciless to poachers. However, Morana is a very ancient and fair creature.

LOKI

No one ever said fitting in would be easy and when you're named after the God of Mischief....well things just tend to get a whole lot harder. So how does one so different fit in? Simple. Paint your horn, mane, and tail in the blood of your enemies and make sure to adorn yourself in Kingly gold! But rather than wear that crown upon your head, wear it about your neck as a reminder of the noose it can sometimes be!

You see this Loki was named after the God of Mischief and well, things certainly haven't been easy for him, that's for certain! What part will he play in Spáfold? No one knows just yet, but it's bound to be interesting that's for sure!

SOLFRID

"I have lived for eons, well before the planets or the Gods came into being. For a time, I had no name. No home. No purpose. No meaning. Nothing. Until IT formed. Earth. In all it's glory, I watched as first, my powers brought greenery to it's lands and water to it's barren oceans. And then, man came. They are known to be greedy but I never thought such a creation could be that greedy. And thus, I began to look for another land. Another place to nurture And thus, I found my gaze ever landing on Spáfold before finally, the veil opened and the first peoples' arrived to it's shores. Here, I have purpose, a name, a home, and I reason for being. My name is Solfrid. Welcome child."

Solfrid's name quite literally means 'Sun' or 'Beautiful' in Norse. From the Old Norse elements sól "sun" and fríðr "beautiful". She is a fox with beautiful wings and it's believed, that to see her, is to have good luck smile upon you. She is a calm, loving, deity but her wrath can be swift, just like the mighty star of which she commands.

EPONA

"My name is Epona and while you may not know this, I do have a wolf inside of me. Now you may be thinking 'how is such a thing possible?' well my dear one, all things are possible when you're a powerful deity such as myself."

Epona is a powerful deity, capable of shape shifting into various forms like her kin, she is, however, the only known deity who is all white, save for her golden colored eyes. It's believed that once, every few years, she drops a precious gem, fondly named Epona's Stone. It's deep amber in color and when used in a breeding, is said to guarantee a beautiful coat on the resulting pups!

"Humans are stupid, weak, arrogant creatures. More vile than even myself. I hunt and kill to sustain myself but they have destroyed their own world because of their blind greed! Why the Great Gods chose to let them come here, is beyond my understanding. But should they become lost in my home, I will make certain, they either fear me, respect me, or never know what hit them."

The thunder of hooves over the open tundra, should bear as a warning for this mighty stallion's presence. Mate to Morana, Ayberk bears none of the kindness she tends to show to those lost in her forests. If you become lost out on this stallion's tundra, you will die. The worst part? You may never know he's even there, as he can take the shape of a snowy owl. This stallion's name is Turkish for 'High Moon'

The Old One .png

"I am older than the world. Older than the animals and humans who now call Spáfold home. No one knows my true name. It seems I've been forgotten. But all anyone knows is that the galaxy glitters upon my back. Can you guess who I am? Perhaps I will reward you if you guess correctly."

When we lost Landstefna, I had to work hard to come up with an all around deity. A being that could symbolize the joining of the two worlds somehow. And here she is. Can you guess who she used to be?
